List of Songs that you should not sing anymore, being a Christian

This is a list of songs that i would be updating as it comes, and these are songs that as a proper Christian with an understanding of the word, you should not find yourself singing them anymore.

Why?, you may ask. The reason is; so many songs are born out of emotions and not scriptures. you can feel so much pain or elevation and write something down because of what you feel and someone else who hears/sings that song will feel the same thing you probably felt at the time when you wrote your song. that is the normal power of music.

So, here are the songs below and the reasons why they should not be sung.

NOTE:* If you want to keep on singing them, you can gracefully edit the lyrics to accomodate the scriptural truth. not all of the song is useless. just some parts of it.

Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.

Very emotional chorus. it even makes you want more. much much more.

But!, you should not sing this chorus. why? Well, why ask the Lord for a cup when He said in John 4:14 that ‘But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life’  and also in John 7: 38 which says ‘He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water’.

So within you is a well. A well of never ending waters. Rivers in fact. Not just one. And you go to the Lord asking that you are thirst and that He should give you JUST ONE CUP!!!. Are you okay?.

Proverbs 10:21 says ‘The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding’. You are suffering thirst because you do not understand.

Job 36:12 says ‘But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge’. you are not listening enough to understand and that is why you find yourself in this situation.

Hosea 4:6a states that ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee’. you should understand some certain things before just jumping into them.

Weigh every song that comes your way, with the Word of God and know if it truly stands.

I don’t even want to talk about the last phrase in the song ‘Make me whole’🚶🏾🚶🏾🚶🏾🚶🏾.

This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

We did love it as kids and were glad to come across it again in the Disney Movie’Let it shine’. not a bad song actually, but one little detail which is majority of the song, then becomes the problem.

This little problem is the ‘this little light of mine’. why? you may ask. here’s why.

‘Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.’ (Matt 5:14). you are the light of the whole world. and see you belittling your self, saying that you have a little are a city set upon a hill and you cannot be hid. you are no little light.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

you have Jesus in you and therefore, you have the light of life. so then, are you calling the light of Jesus ‘little’?

Matthew 5:16– ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’ for your light to ‘so shine’ before men, trust me, it cannot be little.

Luke 8:16– ,No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth [it] under a bed; but setteth [it] on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.’ So please, shine. be the real light you are. don’t hide thinking you are little.

1 peter 2:9  But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:. This follows with John 8:12. you have the light of Christ.

Acts 13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. The Lord himself has made you a light that saves others.

Ephesians 5:8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light:. Walk as a child of light. Walk as light, for thats who you are.

Philippians 2: 15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;. you shine as a light in the world. you should radiate.

Isaiah 42:6 – I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;. you are a light even unto people who are yet to have light.
